Homestead Exemption

$10,000 exemption for all who qualify.

Filing deadline is April 1, 2011

If you answer yes to the following questions, you may receive the Homestead Exemption:

• Are you a resident of the State of Maine?
• Have you owned homestead property in the State of Maine for at least 12 months prior to April 1, 2011?
• Do you declare that home as your permanent place of residency?

If you answer yes to all of these questions, you may be entitled to a property tax reduction, regardless of your income.  If you are already receiving the Homestead Exemption in Orono, there is no need to reapply. Applications are available at the Town Office or by clicking here.
